Medical evaluation and treatment is
essential for any personal injury victim.
The medical care of our clients always
comes first. Prompt evaluation following
injury is important for two reasons.
First, proper medical care can only
begin after a medical evaluation. The
initial medical evaluation typically
takes place in the Emergency Room or
a physician’s office. Second,
the initial medical evaluation serves
as a starting point toward the assessment
of any physical damages included in
a claim.
Medical treatment may consist of many
months. During this phase of your case
we monitor all medical records and
bills. Once the client has progressed
to a reasonable plateau, appropriate
physicians may be asked to determine
an impairment rating. In short, the
impairment rating is the percentage
of your whole body affected by the
injury. An American Medical Association
guide is used for this purpose. Medical
malpractice, wrongful death and other
claims do not require an impairment
rating.
Proper medical evaluation must also
occur after a client has undergone
treatment. Make sure you take a moment
before seeing your physician and write
down your symptoms. Ask questions.
Your medical record is the most important
evidence of your injury. If the symptom
or condition is missing from your medical
record, it does not exist.
